Ecoglo® And Canada Ladder Safety Information

Each year, thousands of people are injured because of not following Canada ladder safety requirements put out by the and the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) using standards for ladders from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

Canada ladder safety requirements become compromised when proper use of them is not followed. When climbing a ladder, three points of contact should always be used, this means either two hands and one foot or two feet and one hand. While completing a task, both feet should remain on the same rung to maintain comply with Canada ladder safety requirements.

Another step that must be followed in the Canada ladder safety requirements is to wear proper footwear that won’t cause a slip or a fall from a ladder, rubber footwear is best. Each ladder rung should be free from any paint or dirt and dry. When climbing up or down a ladder it’s important to face the ladder and hold the rungs with two hands.

If there isn’t a lot of light to see well, while following Canada ladder safety requirements, glow-in-the-dark adhesive strips can be used. These strips are from a company called Ecoglo. Upon absorbing light they in turn re-emit it, and glow. Although best seen in the dark, the strips can be seen at any time. When climbing up or down a ladder they make it much easier to see the individual rungs, allowing proper footing and reducing the risk of falls. The strips are maintenance free and glow for hours after just 20 minutes of charging.

Ecoglo follows Canada ladder safety requirements and improves safety when using a ladder. The other guidelines must be followed to reduce the risk of injury.
