NSPA Standards Compliant Emergency Lighting



All buildings must follow the NSPA standards emergency lighting guidelines. The rules detail essential minimum safety requirements for exit signs and emergency lights in the event of an evacuation or power failure.

All interior stairs, corridors, shops, and any areas of assembly must be equipped with emergency lighting at all exits. It’s also important to note that the NSPA standards emergency lighting requirements state that lighting must be arranged so that if one light bulb fails, the area will not be left in darkness. It also specifies that backup lights must remain on for a minimum of 90 minutes. To comply with NSPA standards emergency lighting requirements, both exit and signs that indicate potential hazards (changes of direction, staircases and changes of floor level) must be lit and clearly visible.
