On steps the light strip is positioned as close to the edge of the step as possible. Normal motion is maintained when people are confident of where the edge of the step is.
The handrail strip provides visual and tactile confirmation of the handrail and on flat or sloped surfaces the pathway is defined by marking where the floor meets a wall.
